Biomechanical Analysis
At The Foot Clinic, we offer comprehensive biomechanical analyses to evaluate how your feet and legs function during walking and other activities. Our biomechanical analyses can help us identify issues that may be contributing to pain or discomfort in your feet, legs, knees, hips, or lower back. We use advanced tools and techniques, including video gait analysis, range of motion studies, and strength assessments, to create a customized treatment plan for you.
Video gait analysis
During a video gait analysis, we use specialized software to analyze how you walk or run. We record video footage of you walking or running on a treadmill or in our clinic, and then use the software to break down your gait into individual components. This helps us identify any abnormalities or imbalances in your gait that may be contributing to pain or discomfort.
Range of motion studies
Range of motion studies help us evaluate how much movement you have in your joints. We’ll ask you to perform a series of movements, such as bending your ankle or rotating your hip, while we measure the range of motion in each joint. This can help us identify any limitations in your range of motion that may be contributing to your symptoms.
Strength assessment
During a strength assessment, we evaluate how much force your muscles can generate. We’ll ask you to perform a series of exercises, such as standing on one foot or performing calf raises, while we measure the strength in each muscle group. This can help us identify any areas of weakness that may be contributing to your symptoms.
Customized treatment plans
Once we’ve completed your biomechanical analysis, we’ll create a customized treatment plan based on your individual needs. This may include:
Custom orthotics: We can create custom orthotics that provide support and cushioning for your feet, helping to correct any abnormalities in your gait.
Exercise therapy: We may recommend specific exercises or stretches to help improve your range of motion or strength.
Footwear recommendations: We may recommend certain types of shoes or modifications to your current shoes to help improve your gait.
Other treatments: Depending on your specific needs, we may recommend other treatments, such as sports strapping or shockwave therapy.
